Jeff Flowers on October 30, 2013 7 Comments There are quite a few reasons to download a wine app for your smartphone or tablet. Maybe you want to find that perfect pairing for your dinner party while you’re at the store. Or, maybe you want to have an inventory of what bottles are in your collection right at the tips of your fingers. Or, perhaps you want to find out who has the best price on your favorite bottle of Chardonnay. There are a number of wine apps available for both the iPhone and Android smartphones, but weeding through the hundreds of wine apps could pose a bit of a challenge. Our list below features only the best of the best wine apps in both online markets, with a link to download each of them directly. In no particular order, here are our top eight must-have wine apps for your iPhone and Android smartphones. Snooth Wine Pro Snooth Wine Pro has a unique image recognition feature, which makes it feel like you are shopping for wine in a futuristic utopia. Simply snap a picture of the label on a bottle of wine, and Snooth Wine Pro pulls up a wealth of information. Included in Snooth’s library are user reviews, similar wines and price comparisons with other stores in the area. The app makes you a savvy shopper as well as a savvy drinker of wines. Use the database to store images to consult later if you are not sure whether you have tried a specific wine. Snooth Wine Pro also offers more conventional wine app features. Use it to search wine stores in your area. It has a wine and food pairing feature and allows you to keep a database of wines you tried in the past. The downside of the app is that it is a little on the expensive side as far as iPhone apps. A free version is available, but the image recognition capability is disabled and ads pop up at inopportune times. Cost: $4.99 — iTunes Download Cor.kz The Cor.kz wine app is definitely a “must have” app for any wine enthusiast. With an incredibly deep database of wines, you have the opportunity to search through over 1.5 million different wines and read over 3 million user reviews. You can also keep track of the wines you’ve tried, along with any tasting note or reviews you may have had about each wine. Besides the huge database of wines available at your fingertips, the most unique feature of Cor.kz is the ability to compare different wines side-by-side. At this time, this is the only wine app that allows you to do this. For those that have their own wine cellar or large collection, Cor.kz allows you to keep an inventory right at your fingertips. You no longer have to wonder if you have that bottle of Cabernet, you can pull out your phone and see exactly what you have in your collection at home. To help ensure you get the best price for that bottle of wine, Cor.kz will show you the prices from hundreds of sources online, including brick-and-mortar stores in your area. You can also get more information about each wine by scanning the barcode on the back of the bottle. Like most smartphone apps these days, Cor.kz even comes with the ability to interact with your friends on social networks, including Twitter and Facebook. It has many of the same features as other apps on this list, but is simplified in a way that will appeal to many people.
